How to Adjust the Time of Audemars Piguet's Watch?

Step 1 - Start the setup process and set the time to noon

First, you need to unscrew the crown and pull it out to the set position. Then, advance the hands until the date jumps forward. After you confirm that the date has been advanced, you will set the hour and minute hands to 12 noon. Changing the calendar at different times will break the mechanism. Keep the crown in the "SET" position until you have finished setting all the indicators in the watch.

Step 2 - Set the date

Now use the stylus provided by Audemars Piguet with your watch - don't use anything other than this stylus or you will damage the corrector - to advance the date to the correct date. The date corrector is located at 10 o'clock - the top of the left strap.

Step 3 - Set the Moon Phase

This may be the trickiest step in setting up the Royal Oak Perpetual. First, you'll advance your lunar disk from where it is until it shows a full moon centered on the aperture. To do this, you must use the corrector located at 7:30 - located at the bottom of the left watch strap.

After setting the moon disk to be a full moon, check the moon phase calendar for your location (northern or southern hemisphere) and determine the date of the last full moon. Once you find that date, you must activate the corrector twice a day since the full moon date and the date you set on your calendar. In our case, we had to press the corrector 38 times.

Step 4 - Set the month and leap year

Using the corrector at 2 o'clock (top of the right strap), you will advance the month until it indicates the correct month. If you also need to adjust the leap year indicator, keep advancing the month until the leap year hand indicates 1, 2, 3, or L of the leap year as required.

Using the 8:30 corrector (left strap between date corrector and moon phase corrector),

Finally, use the corrector at 4 o'clock (bottom of the right strap) to set the day to the correct number. You can check the week corresponding to your date at Calendar-Week.

When done, make sure to push or screw the crown into position 0 to ensure the movement is protected and waterproof.

Always avoid correcting dates, months, or lunar cycles in the afternoon or evening. Likewise, avoid operating the annual or perpetual calendar outside of the time frame recommended by the watch manual.
