About Angular Momentum

Angular Momentum is a small independent maker brand from Switzerland, one of the few that specializes in custom creations. In the past nearly 20 years of watchmaking career, they have created and manufactured more than 1000 different watches for collectors and watch lovers all over the world. The designs of all Angular Momentum watches are developed in-house from hand-drawn sketches and drawings and are produced by hand and manual machines.

Angular Momentum is not considered a manufacturer of so-called "complicated watches". Angular Momentum timepieces are personalized works of art. They focus more on the beauty of watch details and shoulder the mission of making simple watches into unique, unforgettable, and precious works of art.

Why Manual Winding for Angular Momentum Watches?

The most common reason for Angular Momentum watches to be hand wound is so that you can set the time accurately with it, this saves you from having to reset the watch as often, it also means that the watch will always be accurate and reliable.

Winding a watch is a complex endeavor, but for many watch lovers, it is one of the joys of interacting with a watch.

Angular Momentum Manual Winding Steps

- Locate the crown which is usually on the right side of the dial.
- Gently pull the crown away from the dial to its original position, being careful not to pull it too far.
- Begin winding the crown clockwise until resistance is felt, or 25-30 revolutions at a time.
- Push the crown back into its normal position.
- Pull the crown out again and turn the crown to set hands until the hands show the current time and date.
- Push it back again when done.

Automatic watches should not be overwound. Automatic watches, or self-winding watches, depend on the movement of your arms to operate. For manual winding, the process is simple and you will find that winding the Angular Momentum gives you a few minutes of peace every day!

If you cannot find your watch model (or movement) in this watch, you can try to determine your Angular Momentum winding mode. You should choose the combined winding mode (CW+CCW) and minimum turns per day (TPD).  Then put the watch into the watch winder and check the accuracy of the time displayed by the watch after a few days. If you run behind, you need to increase the TPD number by one level.

Angular Momentum Watch Time Adjustment Method

Set Time:

  1. To set the watch, pull the crown all the way out to the time setting position
  2. Move the hands forward until the date in the date window changes - it is now midnight. Continue to move the hands forward until the correct time is displayed.
(Note: If setting the watch in the afternoon, you must advance the hands at least 12 hours, otherwise, the date will change to noon instead of midnight.)

Set Date:

  1. Please push the crown to the position
  2. Turn counterclockwise (or clockwise, depending on the model) until today's date is displayed in the date window.
It is not recommended to set the date after 9 pm or before 5 am as this may cause the date to not change correctly. Finally, always remember to depress the crown and screw it firmly into the case after setting it.

Can I Always Wind my Watch Manually With the Crown?

It’s okay to do this once in a while, but not too often—especially if your watch has a screw-down crown.

Firstly, with crown winding, the gears and other parts of an automatic movement will wear out faster, as will the screw-in crown system, as it is not designed for frequent use. Self-winding watches should be worn for at least eight hours a day to make the most of their power reserves, so rather than letting your automatic watch's power reserve drain, invest in a simple automatic watch winder.
